The nominal chemical composition of the positive electrode (BP) is platinum-rhodium alloy, which contains 30% rhodium and 70% platinum, and the negative electrode (BN) is platinum-rhodium alloy. The rhodium content is 6%, so it is commonly called double platinum rhodium thermocouple. The thermocouple has a high long-term use temperature of 1600°C, and a short-term high use temperature of 1800°C. 2. Advantages and disadvantages of platinum-rhodium thermocouples: 1. Advantages: platinum-rhodium thermocouples in the thermocouple series have the advantages of high accuracy, good stability, wide temperature measurement range, long service life, and high temperature measurement upper limit. It is suitable for oxidizing and inert atmospheres, and also for short-term use in vacuum, but not suitable for reducing atmospheres or atmospheres containing metal or non-metal vapors. An obvious advantage of B-type thermocouple is that it does not need compensation wire for compensation, because the thermoelectric potential is less than 3μV in the range of 0~50℃. 2. Disadvantages: The disadvantage of platinum-rhodium thermocouples is the thermoelectric potential. The thermoelectric potential rate is small, the sensitive reading is low, the mechanical strength decreases at high temperature, and it is very sensitive to pollution.
